Use the following procedure to install PageMaker from the Adobe PageMaker 7.0.2 Application CD. You cannot run PageMaker from the CD; you must install the program files onto your hard disk. Before you install, note the following:
Finding your serial number You need the product serial number to install PageMaker. You can find it on the back of the CD jewel case.
Upgrading If you are upgrading from a previous version of PageMaker, the installer requires you to enter two serial numbers: one from the original version of PageMaker, and one from the upgrade. You can find the original serial number on the registration card for that version, the inside cover of its user guide, or its CD case. When you enter the original serial number, be sure to type it exactly as it appears: Include any dashes, type uppercase letters, and type zeros or ones as numbers, not letters. (The letters 'O' and 'I' don't appear in PageMaker serial numbers.) When you install the upgrade version, the installer creates a new folder for the PageMaker 7.0 files. Your current PageMaker files are not affected. For more information on upgrading, see See Upgrading from previous versions of PageMaker .
Creating PDF files If you want to create PDF files, you need additional software (included on the Adobe PageMaker 7.0.2 Application CD). Adobe Acrobat Distiller (Windows) and AdobePS are required for exporting PageMaker publications to PDF. For more information, see See Installing additional applications .
Using Windows 2000 If you're using Windows 2000, Adobe recommends that you log in as a user with administrative privileges before you install PageMaker 7.0.2. If you do not have administrative privileges, contact your system administrator for assistance.
